Orienteering - Young Navigators

Are you looking for an engaging and active day to help the children in your class engage with and develop cross curricular skills in Literacy and Numeracy, Geography, PE and English? Do the children enjoy being on their feet and exploring the school and grounds?

New for 2024 are Outspark’s Orienteering Days. These full-day experiences are specifically designed and modelled to work for Primary aged children on your own school site. The framework of the day is designed to hit key curriculum links and, for years 3-6, to fulfil the modules to award them a nationally recognised navigation accreditation.

Children will spend time learning about maps and grid references, they will make their own map, use an orienteering course and develop team-building skills and cooperation along the way.

  • A fun game based introduction to maps, map reading and orienteering using the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Whilst beginning to learn the basic skills needed for map reading your young adventurers will journey through their day learning to work in small teams and make decisions with the input of their peers.

Your Orienteering day can be tailored around your current classroom topics or theme and can be linked to particular aspects of the curriculum, specific subjects or outcomes.

An Orienteering day costs £500.00 + VAT per class of up to 35 children. That price covers our expert and qualified staff member, all resources and, for Year 3-6, NNAS Outdoor Discover Award certification. Give the children in your class a fun, active and interesting day that involves no travel and helps them engage in curriculum learning.

In England, this day could be funded utilising the DfE’s Sports Premium Initiative. Each of our Orienteering Days has an element of physical activity that is required for the funding to be used. And if your school has already spent it’s allocation, why not budget for the cost to go in to the 2024/25 academic year?

The Orienteering days have been hugely popular so far and raised a lot of interest. However, we still have some remaining availability on:
